We have been involved with solar photovoltaics (PV) within the UK for over 10 years. We have designed and installed systems, both domestic and commercial, for a wide range of customers, including householders, schools, community centres and other solar and utility companies.

Greenheart has also been involved in the development of a number of MWp PV projects within the UK, Europe and Southern Africa.

With the introduction of the Feed-in Tariff (FITs) in the UK, PV systems are now becoming economically viable and are an ideal way to reduce energy bills, cutting carbon emissions whilst generating money.

Solar energy is not only easy to use, but has the most power of all renewable energy forms.

Just a small fraction of the sun’s energy that hits the earth would be sufficient to cover all the world’s energy requirements, free of charge.

Not only is the quantity available impressive, but solar energy is also clean. There are practically no emissions and no dangerous radiation. So PV is well suited to tackle current climatic problems.

In order to use solar energy, no new and complex technologies are needed. Today there are technologies available which allow efficient use of solar energy that have been in production for over 50 years.

    Fit and forget – once installed there is little else to do

    Produce electricity, rather than heat, which means that any surplus amount can be sold back to the National Grid

    Ideally requires a southerly facing roof, with no obstruction from the sun.

    Minimum of 10mtrs sq of roof space required to make worthwhile i.e. above 1kWp system.

    Intermittent. Photovoltaics will not produce electricity 24 hours day


    Estimates range between £2.70 and £5.80 per Wp installed, dependent on size and type of system installed. The larger the system, the cheaper it gets

    Return on Investments (ROI) are generally above 10%, dependent on location

    The further south you are within the UK the higher the energy yields and the greater the revenues.
