Wind Turbines

How the technology works

Solar water heating systems, or Solar thermal systems, use the heat from the sun to contribute towards hot water or heating. It does this by using collectors mounted on the roof. These collectors transfer the sun’s energy to a heat transfer fluid, which then heats up a hot water cylinder, buffer vessel or heat exchanger for larger commercial systems.

There are a number of components within a solar hot water system.

- Solar thermal modules
- Solar hot water cylinder
- Pumping station
- Solar controller
- Expansion vessel
- Pressure relief valve

As a solar thermal system will not provide all of your hot water requirements (mainly in the winter months), a primary source of heating, such as a boiler, heat pump or biomass boiler will be incorporated.
