The wind resourse within the UK is considered amongst the best in Europe, with around 40% of all of Europe’s wind energy blowing over. As such, a well sited wind turbine is a great way of generating a renewable source of energy.

We have been involved with wind turbines for over 10 years and have installed a number of microgeneration turbines, between 3kWp upto 15kWp.

We have also been involved in developing a number of projects using larger sized turbines, upto 1.25MWp.

    Advantages

    Wind resource (normally above 5m per second wind speed would be required)

    Requires open land with minimal obsticals

    Will require planning permission and consents in most cases

    Large machines require purpose built roads and access

    Intermittent; will not provide electricity 24hours a day, 365 days per year

    Costs

    Estimated at around £2 per watt installed

    The larger the wind turbine, the less cost per watt installed

    The higher the wind speed the higher the energy yield
